AppGameKit – Free Raspberry Pi Game Creation Toolkit

One of the best uses for the Raspberry Pi is teaching kids (and adults) basic programming skills. AppGameKit is a bit of free software that does just that.

The software isn’t exactly straightforward game-making software , but it does contain some useful stuff, particularly for the Pi, such as accessing the GPIO pins so you can encode physical I / O. Plus, anything you do can be deployed on just about any platform, including the Raspberry Pi itself. If you want to mess around with making games on the Pi, AppGameKit seems like a step up from the built-in Scratch software , but still easy enough for newbies.
