Make Pumpkin Pie Better With Double Mashed Pumpkin Pie
If you want your homemade pumpkin pie to really shine this year, ditch the roasted pumpkin and premixed pie filling. Canned pumpkin puree will give you the perfect consistency.
Roasting your own pumpkin for use as a pumpkin pie filling is tricky and inconsistent, as The Kitchn ‘s Megan Sploun explains. Pumpkins vary in size and moisture, so they don’t always give the perfect texture. Splawn recommends using canned pumpkin puree (rather than canned pie filling) instead. The trick, however, is to toss some into a blender or food processor and grind again before adding the spices. You will get rid of any remaining fiber and lumps, and ultimately the pumpkin pie will become more creamy. You can find some more pumpkin pie tips at the link below.
