Double Your Household Items to Reduce Stress
For years, my morning routine included one or two trips back to the house for things I forgot to add to my bag. Then I figured out the obvious solution, which could also save me the dreadful walks from one end of my cozy apartment to the other: just buy another copy of everything. While some examples of this are obvious – tissue boxes, lip balm – there are probably still some additional items you could use in half to improve your life. Here are the favorites of the Lifehacker team:
- Purchase a laptop cord for every room you use your computer in.
- Buy cosmetics for two: one for your purse, one for the bathroom.
- The same goes for everything in your bag: sunglasses, medication, hand sanitizer, headphones.
- Keep a mobile phone charger kit handy.
- Use the tweezers in half: one in the bedroom, the other in the bathroom.
- Double your kitchen and bathroom detergents, especially paper towels. You will end up cleaning each one a little more often if you don’t have to spank and stop worrying vaguely about cross-contamination.
- Buy some cheap umbrellas to hand out to trapped guests. Believe me, they will be grateful to you, as if you had just pardoned them from the debtor.
- Keep spare house keys at work (of course, in a safe place). Convenient for you, your partner, and anyone else you send to your home in an emergency.
- Buy a million hair ties and put them all over the house where they will end up anyway.
