How to Downgrade IOS 11 to IOS 10

Congratulations, you’ve downloaded the iOS 11 beta! Undoubtedly, you’ve already had fun experimenting with Apple’s latest operating system, packed full of new features such as a QR-enabled camera app, a customizable control center, and a file management app (sadly named Files).

But you may also experience some growth problems when using a new, not very stable OS. So here’s how to get that damn thing off your iOS device and go back to iOS 10 so that your smartphone doesn’t randomly restart at the most inopportune moment. The best part? This is Apple approved .

Step 1. Download iOS 10 recovery image

Since you are using iOS 11, you need to download the older iOS 10 image. Luckily, you can get the software image you want directly from Apple . From there, you can select the appropriate recovery image (in this case iOS 10.3.3) for your device and wait for the multi-gigabyte file to download.

Step 2. Connect your iOS device to your computer.

It’s pretty self-explanatory.

Step 3. Put your device into recovery mode.

To restore your device, you will need to put it into recovery mode with a few clicks of buttons with a specified time. If you are using an iPad, iPhone 6s or earlier, or iPod touch, you can hold the Sleep / Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Hold and wait until your device goes into recovery mode.

IPhone 7 and 7 Plus users must perform a different set of button presses and hold down the sleep / wake button and the volume down button at the same time, and then wait until the recovery mode screen appears.

Step 4. Recover your iOS device

After you enter recovery mode, iTunes will present you with the option to restore your device. From there, you will need to hold down the Option key (hold Shift if you are using Windows) and click “Restore”. Select the previously downloaded iOS software image and wait for your device to install it.

Once the restore is complete, you can activate your device and restore from your iTunes backup, or wait for your device to regain its former glory.
