Cut the Expired Car Seat Belts

I used to trade old expired car seats for sweet coupons at Target, but if there were no such promotions, I wouldn’t know what to do with these awkward things. While researching how to recycle a car seat, I realized that this is a rather complicated process. You can find a local processing plant that will accept it, but with China’s new regulations, such programs have become rare. Sometimes the smartest option is to throw it away.

In this case, cut the belts first.

By simply throwing away the car seat, you risk being snagged by another family. And expired car seats cannot be used . Materials wear out, standards change, and models are only tested for safety over a specified service life. Therefore, before throwing it in the trash, grab a pair of scissors and cut the belts, upper belt belts and LATCH belts. You should also do this with any car seat that has been involved in an accident, even a wing bender .

Or wait for the next car seat exchange event at Target . They usually happen a couple of times a year.
