Five Smart Ways to Organize All Sorts of Things in the Kitchen

It is well known that it is difficult to keep order in the kitchen – the room is nothing more than a collection of little things, and all of them should be easily accessible at all times. If you’re struggling to deal with all the clutter, here are a few ways you can use common items to reduce clutter and clean up your workspace.

Store canned food (and more) in vertical file folders.

Persistent file folders can be used to organize several common kitchen items. Soup cans, which can take up a lot of space when stored upright but can also be unstable when stacked, will fit perfectly sideways in magazine folders. In addition, mesh magazine binders can be a great solution for storing onions and potatoes in cabinets so they don’t roll around, trapping moisture and causing mold. Water bottles and travel mugs can be stored on their side in a vertical file folder so they can be folded and accessed without rolling or getting lost in the back of a shelf.

Use Hooks in Unexpected Ways

Hooks can also be used to organize your kitchen, but they’re not just for cups anymore. While hooks can be handy for hanging coffee or tea cups from the bottom edge of a cabinet, they can also be used to attach pot lids to the back of a cabinet door. By attaching two hooks about two inches smaller than your lid size, with the hooks up, you’ll have a tiny rack to hold your pot lid on the inside of your cabinet door. You can also use hooks to hang measuring cups and spoons on the inside of a cabinet door. If you don’t have enough surface to use a screw hook, the self-adhesive version works well.

Hang some file baskets

Using a hanging basket for storage folders can save a lot of space and eliminate the hassle of saran wrapping, tin foil and wax paper. Hang a shallow basket on hooks on the inside of a pantry or closet door and store food storage boxes there. The use of this type of folder basket is also suitable for the lids of plastic containers. Keeping lids together in one place without placing them on shelves will help keep cabinets organized and make finding lids much easier. The hanging file basket is also a great place for folded cloth napkins, kitchen towels, and kitchen towels.

Repurpose paper towel holder

The paper towel holder can be used to store trash bags. Installing a metal paper towel holder on the inside of a closet door or on the inside of a pantry wall will give you the perfect place to store trash bags. You can also use a paper towel dispenser to hold rolls of butcher paper or waxed baking paper.

Install a heated towel rail (or more)

Towel racks are good for more than just towels. The wall-mounted towel rack behind the bar has enough room to slide the pot lid in. The handle on the lid will not let it slip off until the end. They could be attached to a wall or used on the inside of a pantry door to store pot and pan lids. The towel rack can also be used to store trash bags or paper towels by putting the roll on the crossbar. S-hooks can be added to a towel rack to hang crockery or oddly shaped appliances.
