The best part of any hike is a bonfire, but if you are not an expert in arranging logs and kindling, building one can be challenging. But with a tumble dryer and a few other tools, you can make a handy fire starter that will serve you well on chilly al fresco nights.

Dryer fluff is known to be flammable and can invigorate the kindling, but the fluff on its own will not cause a fire to roar. Various fibers of down are more flammable than others, and several other household items are required to turn it into a fire-lighting device. When going on your next hike, take with you:
- Lint dryer
- Cardboard toilet paper or paper towel tube
- Wax paper

Luckily, there are almost no toilet paper tubes and dryer lint, and that’s all you need to get started. Petroleum jelly and wax paper are fairly easy to find at the drug store or grocery store. How to make a homemade lint dryer
The process of making a DIY firelighter is relatively simple. First, pack the dryer lint loosely into the cardboard tube. You want the lint to be fluffed up inside the tube; Packing too tight will result in a shortage of oxygen and prevent it from burning properly. Then wrap waxed paper around the toilet paper tube. Twist the ends so that the straw looks like a lollipop. Add to the kindling and light the ends to light the fire. For more effective ignition, add petroleum jelly and paraffin to the mixture. Before rolling or curling the waxed paper, brush each end of the tube with Vaseline and beat the fluff.
