How to Get Started With a Password Manager

By now, we all know how important a long and strong password is. We know that with every new data breach in the news, we must change it. And if you can remember every unique password for every unique site, then good for you; but everyone else will need a little help organizing and securing our passwords, and for that we have third-party password management apps like 1Password and Dashlane.

To get started, explore the services of such applications. Many offer free versions, but you can upgrade to the paid version for additional features. Then you set your master password, which is the only password you need to keep in memory. Then, every time you log into your account on a site or service, you will be redirected to the password manager, asked for your master password, and the external application will log in from there. Basically, a third-party app creates a secure password for you, and you give it the right to log into its account on your behalf.

Now you can get rid of unnecessary things like your mother’s maiden name or your pet’s birthday.
