How to Clean All Kitchen Utensils

When was the last time you cleaned a can opener? No really, go check it out. I’ll wait.

Well, this is too long. I bet your can opener and many other commonly used kitchen tools are just plain dirty . Luckily, we have a new video tutorial on cleaning the toughest gadgets in your kitchen.

To clean a can opener, soak it in white vinegar for 2-5 minutes, then scrub with a toothbrush and dish soap. Be sure to engage all gears as they can easily build up oil and rust.

To clean a cheese grater (or, as it is also called, asponge breaker), dip half a lemon in salt and grate. Then, gently run the soapy sponge over the grain of the grater (to protect this precious sponge).

When cleaning the blender, be careful not to cut your fingers on the blades. Instead, fill it halfway with hot water and dish soap. Turn on the blender for a few seconds to soften everything inside, then rinse.

If you have rusty kitchen scissors, wet the blades and spray with some Bar Keepers Friend. Form into a paste and let sit for one minute, then rub off and rinse. There will be no rust!

Finally, to clean the whisk – probably the hardest item in the kitchen – just fill a bowl with warm, soapy water … and whisk! You’ve just saved a ton of diving time.
