Mo Willems Will Be Scribbling for Democracy Tonight
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that when things get tough, it’s important to look for any form of distraction . Fortunately, children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems has walked with us on this stressful journey before, reminding us that when things go wrong, you can always grab a marker and start drawing. Tonight, when the election results start (maybe?), He will host a live broadcast titled ” Democracy Doodle 2020 “.
“These are very important choices and a lot of people on other screens will be saying very important things,” Willems says in a promotional video for the event . ” We ‘re going to paint.”
In his role as an educational artist at the Kennedy Center, Willems ran a similar series called Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems in the spring , in which he showed kids (and adults) how to draw some of his favorite characters. including the Dove .
If you feel like you need a little distraction today, grab some paper and markers and head to the Kennedy Center website at 7:00 pm ET to paint for democracy.
