Clean up Your Kitchen and More With Bartenders Friend
All of our kitchens have gotten dirty due to heavy use over the past six months. If you’re like me, you’ve noticed that all of your pots and pans are covered with baked stains, your appliances are covered in dirt, and your silverware is rusting.
One of our favorite cleansers at Lifehacker is Bar Keepers Friend . This powder is known for cleaning stainless steel (which it does very well with), but it is used everywhere (and even outside) in the home.
Before cleaning anything with BKF, check the packaging to make sure it is the recommended use. First, wet the surface – oven door, sink, or appliance face. Apply some BKF with a damp sponge until a paste forms. Let stand for one minute. Then wipe with a damp cloth and dry.
This material works so well with stainless steel that it removed rust from all of my steak knives and rid me of years of deposits in my pots and pans. It also removed scratches on my ceramic cereal bowls and repaired scratches on my car . I really doubted it when I first heard it, but I took it outside and spread it over my car, and of course the scratches were gone in a minute.
