It’s Even More Important to Get a Flu Shot This Year.

I told you all in January : if you’re worried about the coronavirus – it wasn’t in the US at the time, but people were already worried – use that nervous energy to get off your ass and get a damn flu shot. … Now that COVID-19 isn’t going anywhere, I repeat: Get the damn flu shot. It’s even more important now.

No, the flu shot does not protect against the coronavirus. But it will seriously reduce your chances of contracting the flu, which has similar symptoms and can also be a serious illness.

To learn more about health during a pandemic, watch the video below:

Do you want to get the flu, feel hot and shitty, and wonder if you have COVID, where are you going to get tested for COVID and how many days will you have to wait to get a result?

Do you want to get complications from the flu and then contact your doctor (or perhaps go to the emergency room) during a pandemic, when they are already overwhelmed and where you could potentially get COVID as well ?

Do you want to pass the flu to someone else in your life, leaving them alone with one of the above scenarios?

Do you even want to think about what the school year will be like with colds, flu and COVID circulating at the same time?

You do not. Anyway, I don’t know for sure. While we don’t have a COVID-19 vaccine yet, and we don’t have vaccines for the various cold viruses that circulate every year, we do have a flu vaccine. It’s not perfect, but it saves lives every year. Flu shots reduce the incidence of influenza by an average of 40-60%, according to the CDC, which tracks these numbers.

September and October are usually optimal timing, but in all fairness, getting any flu shot is better than not getting one at all .

So when thinking about how to protect yourself, your family, and your community this fall, make sure you have time to get yourself a flu shot. Yes, it helps, no, it won’t give you the flu, and if you are going to argue with me about any of these points, please read the truth about these common myths about the flu shot .
