How to Freshen the Air Without a Spray

Is it a little stuffy in here?

It may be too cold to open a window, or you may not like the chemical smell of commercial air fresheners, so here are some tricks to keep the air fresh.

First, for some fresh air, try attaching one of these air fresheners to the vents in your home. They are cheaper than plug-ins and do not take up any electrical outlets. Plus, the technology is pretty advanced and they now have great scents – we promise your house won’t smell like a taxi.

Or, try mixing baking soda with a few drops of an essential oil of your choice in an open container, such as a machine or bowl. It can last for up to three days and will allow the scent of the oil to fill the room. As a bonus, you can sprinkle the baking soda mixture on your carpet or rug, wait 30 minutes, and vacuum. Not only will it soak up the carpet scents ( which we’ve already covered ), but it will also leave you feeling fresh when you’re done.

Finally, set the plate of apple wedges overnight. While they turn brown, they will also soak up any leftover smoky odors that may be all over the place. You can also cut the orange in half and sprinkle with salt.

Also, remember that if you need to use commercial sprays, they tend to leave marks when dropped to the surface, so these tricks will make you wipe the counters less often.
