Make Stress More Manageable by Treating It As a “competition”

Stress is something that we all have at some point, the difference is how we deal with it. Though it’s definitely easy to let stress slow down or even cripple us when it comes to completing tasks. Fast Company posted an article on stress this week and contributed some great tips on how to deal with it. First, deal with stress like a pilot.

The advice comes from Terry Lyles, who teaches professional athletes and people like NASCAR drivers how to deal with stress.

He argues that stress in itself is not bad, it all comes down to how you interpret it.

He says athletes don’t see “stress” but “competition.” In terms of the pilot analogy, Lyles told Fast Company, “The pilot takes off even though there is a chance the wind direction might change. They, of course, go right from point A to point B. The same concept applies to any situation that can cause stress. “

That is, you will not be able to get rid of the stress from your life, the main thing is to figure out how to cope with it. If, instead, you turn stress into a challenge, you can use it “like rocket fuel” to propel you forward, not hold you back.
