What Can You Do the Most in Your City?

In some cities, the nicest thing you can do is dig someone’s driveway. In some, to give them a touch. In some cases, this is done to allow them to drive on the freeway or to refill the parking meter. What is the best service someone can do for someone in your city?

In New York City, it’s the subway: if you have an unlimited-use MetroCard and get off the station, you can swipe the card for someone else to board. The MTA allows you to do this , and since the metro ride costs $ 2.75, it’s a huge help to those in need.

We’re looking for services that go beyond just not doing shit. But a lot of good favors are dealing with shitty reality. In San Francisco, where many locals are homeless in particular, there is a tradition of leaving restaurant food leftovers propped up over a trash can or newspaper box: a necessary good in an evil world.

If you’re in a bad mood, read our post on the biggest local scams or the worst travel traps . And then help make life a little better by sharing one of the local favors below. (Do not forget to include your city or region!) We will show the best services in the “Personnel” tab.
