How to Download the Public Beta of IOS 13, MacOS Catalina, and IPadOS
The public beta versions of iOS 13 , macOS Catalina , iPadOS, and tvOS 13 are finally available. Here’s a quick rundown of how to sign up and what testers can expect from these beta builds.
How to sign up and download iOS 13, macOS Catalina, iPadOS, and tvOS
To access each beta, you’ll need to sign up for Apple’s Beta Software Progam, which (of course) requires an Apple ID.
- Open the Apple Beta Program page on any device you want to get the beta on (and use the Safari browser to make it easy).
- Click Sign Up and use your Apple ID to sign in.
- Accept the user agreement.
- Select the beta you want to register for, then scroll down to the Getting Started section and click the register [device] link.
- Apple will provide you with additional instructions. Short version: You will need to install a beta profile on your device, which will then unlock the beta as a regular software update, which can be found in your device’s settings menu.
What to expect
While these beta versions only recently went public, the developer community (and Lifehacker readers ) have been able to play around with them for a little longer. As we always talk about installing beta software, these operating systems are still under development. You are likely to run into bugs, crashes and find that some applications are not yet supported. While you probably shouldn’t be running the beta on your primary device – especially if you need it to always work for, say, your work – the public beta is at least slightly more stable than beta versions of the former. developers for these operating systems. … (Not perfect, just better.)
If you join the public beta, make sure you are a good tester and report any bugs or other feedback through the Apple Feedback Assistant page (or app). If you’re just testing new operating systems, be sure to follow Apple’s backup instructions – remember to back up your device before installing the beta – so you can undo updates and keep most of your data. untouched if you ever want to go back to iOS 12 .
