Use Leftover Currency at McDonald’s Thursday

If you have any extra euros, yen or rupee left over from your last international trip tomorrow, June 6th, you will have the chance to cash it out at some American class A fast food.

From 2 pm to 5 pm local time, customers can exchange one piece of any foreign currency for one of McDonald’s new ” World Favorites ” products that were introduced today. There are four such time-limited international menu options:

  • Stroopwafel McFlurry (Netherlands): Mild vanilla serving with caramel curl and sliced caramel waffle cookies from Daelmans Stroopwafel.
  • Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger (Spain) : Quarter pound fresh beef, thick sliced smoked apple bacon, smoky McBacon sauce, Gouda cheese and onions served on a toasted sesame bun.
  • Chicken and Mozzarella Tomato Sandwich (Canada) : Fried or crispy chicken with white meat, tomato-spicy sauce, mozzarella cheese, onions, lettuce and rum tomatoes on a toasted roll.
  • Cheesy Bacon Fries (Australia) : Fried potatoes with cheddar cheese sauce and minced apple-smoked bacon.

There is a limit of one exchange per customer. Wondering what McDonald’s is going to do with this random collection of foreign exchange? McDonald’s tells USA Today that it leaves this decision to the owner-operators of each individual store.
