What’s the Best Buy You’ve Ever Made?

Who can we really trust among Amazon, Yelp, and countless other review sites that depend on customer information for buying decisions?

Let’s face it: even though a product has four and a half stars, we can’t help but be influenced by one- and two-star reviews. Who is the liar here? More importantly, will we face an incurable case of customer remorse if we finally pull the trigger?

Out of the number of useless purchases I’ve made in my life (Polaroid with limited disposable film, expensive microphone in case I wanted to be an ASMR artist, to name a few), there are a few purchases I’ve made that I’m incredibly grateful for.

I’m happy to have finally gotten a fantastic vacuum cleaner that cleans carpets in the same way as hardwood floors. I love the heating pad I use for my back after a long day. And I’m looking forward to using my Ninja blender today because I can quickly make a piña colada (with extra rum).

In a recent interview on To Reddit u / baconlovebacon asked the important question of our Purchase History “What is the most profitable purchase you have ever made?” The answers, ranging from purely functional to more emotional, are in a gambit:

  • Blackout blinds. The room is pleasant and cool in summer, and the darkness has contributed to the best sleep of my life. ” – drive38
  • “Vacuum food sealer. We take the meat from a friend, who lifts it up and closes everything with a vacuum. We never have to throw burnt meat in the freezer. The best $ 70 we could spend. ” – chungen91
  • “When I was having a really nasty breakup, I bought myself a stuffed toy to cuddle with at night (as did everything I had from the aforementioned ex SO). He was considered the “bear of self-love,” and whenever I hated myself and felt worthless, I hugged this bear and cried until I felt better. ” – Safdases
  • “My bidet with toilet seat for $ 25. 15 minute installation and one of the cleanest assholes in PNW. ” – NaturalisticPhallacy
