Quickly Organize Your Gmail Inbox by Right Clicking
I bow my head in shame for having never tried this before, but the other day I noticed that you can right-click in Gmail to bring up a useful Gmail-style context menu. In fact, it’s probably faster to organize your emails this way than to select an email and use the thicker buttons at the top of the Gmail UI to archive, move, or whatever.
Why didn’t I figure it out earlier? To my credit, I’m used to seeing the default browser context menu whenever I right click on a web page. I never need to “Check” in Gmail, or “View page source” or anything like that, so I never bothered to right-click on the message. Is always.
And my implementation came at the perfect time, as Google recently decided to add even more actions to the Gmail right-click menu. When Conversation Mode is enabled in Gmail, the context menu will look like this:
If you’re not using Talk Mode because you hate feeling organized, one additional search option will appear in the right-click context menu:
Before you ask, the right-click context menu isn’t just for individual emails. You can select multiple emails — by clicking individually, holding down the Shift key, or using the little rectangle icon below the left side of the Gmail search box — and any action you take using the context menu will apply to all of them. … This is a useful little time-saver when trying to deal with the insanity that is your inbox, a task best used during periods of drunkenness and / or boredom.
