All Our Favorite Ways to Cook an Egg

The humble egg’s versatility is almost mind blowing. While eggs are delicious and contain only a little salt, they also glow surprisingly easily, bringing a rich, flavorful yolk and hunger-fighting substance to any dish you slap them into. It’s a breakfast workhorse, and we’ve rounded up all of our favorite ways to make them.

Fried

Whether you like liquid or hard yolk, we have something for everyone. We have eggs fried in a pile of crispy cheese , eggs fried in beautifully toasted delicacy rings , and herb fried eggs right in the whites . You can also add some umami tomato paste, or increase your carbs by cooking an egg in a donut hole , in a leftover pizza slice, or in a pile of potato chips .

Scrambled

In my opinion, scrambled eggs are underestimated. I love the small creamy curds and the large fluffy curds , especially with a couple of extra yolks added . The fluffiest mixture is obtained with a hand blender , which is also best for mixing soft cheeses directly with an egg . Don’t feel like pushing them in a saucepan? Pour the curd mixture into jars for an egg-like velvety flavor .

Hard-boiled

Hard-boiled eggs don’t have the sexiest reputation, but they can be downright cuddly when handled properly. Try wrapping them in miso , soaking them in tea and soy sauce, or making a pressure cooker to make the proteins more flavorful and nutty. If none of this works for you, sprinkle the yolks with a little sugar and sugar and burn them to create a brulee treat .

Boiled

It turns out that the simplest and most non-intrusive poaching method is the best, but that doesn’t mean you can’t come up with something special. Cooking an egg right in a bowl or ramen turns an instant snack into a hearty meal, while swapping the boiling liquid from water for wine makes brunch that much more exciting.
