This Ti ‘Spritz Is Delicious Summer Fun
Happy weekend and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. Today we take an already lightly prepared drink – punch – and turn it into an even lighter drink.
We’ve already talked about ti ‘ punch – it’s a delicious Caribbean blend of rum, lime and syrup. It would seem that nothing could be easier, but recently I was at a party and a friend of mine complained about “hassle” or about making a simple syrup. (I told him you could do it in the microwave ; he politely pretended to try it next time.)
Anyway. This got me thinking about how I can simplify the drink even more. Obviously, the answer is adding some sugary pop that has syrup in it, turning it into a splatter that all people want to drink in the summer anyway. To make it yourself, you will need:
- 2 ounces of your favorite rum (I like the blend).
- 1/4 lime
- Your favorite lime-flavored soda (Stewart’s Key Lime is very good)
Pour the rum into a large wine glass or bowl, squeeze the juice out of a quarter of the lime and toss it there. Add a cube of ice, sprinkle with lime soda and stir gently. Add a slice of lime in there if you need a side dish.
