Secure Your Hotel Curtains With a Hanger

If you are staying at a hotel in a busy city center, light pollution can be a major problem. Even the tiniest crack in your curtains can light up your room far beyond your comfortable sleep level. So: go to your closet.

No, don’t sleep there – put the pillow back on the bed. Look for the short-leg hanger that you use for your trousers. Once you get it, do what Jeff Darcy on Twitter suggests and use the clips on this hanger to close the gap in the curtains.

This ensures that no light penetrates inside. If you don’t have short hangers in your closet (or they are attached to a bar because it appears to have a world-class hanger in there), paper clips, clothespins, or even a clip on the pen cap may work as a last resort. Now: Sleep soundly, don’t let the bugs bite ( seriously ), and enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning.
