Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Summer Caipirinha

Happy weekend and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week we are making a drink that, in my opinion, fully embodies the light and fresh spirit of this article: caipirinha.

Made with cachasa – a liqueur made from sugarcane juice – this cocktail, which is built entirely on lowball, is one of the simplest and most flamboyant drinks you can make. It is tart, strong and slightly sweet, and also the national cocktail of Brazil. To make it you will need:

  • 1/2 lime, cut into quarters
  • 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of sugar, depending on how sweet your drink is.
  • 2 ounces cachass

Add the lime to the scoop and sprinkle the sugar over the wedges. Stir it well with a wooden spoon or mudler until the sugar dissolves in the lime juice, then pour over with ice, add the porridge and stir several times. Take a sip, admire how easy it was and enjoy the sun.
