Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Manhattan Rum

Happy weekend everyone, and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week we’re mixing up a variation of the iconic Manhattan, swapping out the standard rye whiskey for rum.

I have nothing against whiskey (obviously), but sometimes I just want to relax a bit with a more tropical spirit, and drinking rum in Manhattan allows you to relax without getting drunk on “full daiquiri.” To make it, you just need:

  • 2 ounces rum (keg or aged preferred)
  • 30 g sweet vermouth (Carpano Antica if you want to pamper yourself)
  • A few drops of aromatic bitterness

Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until it cools well. Strain in the compartment, garnish with an orange slice if you dare to add more ingredients, and sip on some tropical but still very serious libation.
