What Would a Rich Man Do?
A friend of mine once worked as an assistant for a very busy and successful person who was leaving the country. Closer to the date of the trip, he realized that his passport had expired and asked her to renew it. After a long investigation, she said that he would have to wait all day at a government office to be renewed. These are just rules. He sighed and asked, “What would a rich man do?”
The sad fact is that the “rules” don’t always apply if you have enough money. And this guy was enough. So they threw it at the problem. She learned that while passport forwarders can not process a passport faster , they can do all the work and save you your trip to the office. And it was worth it for this man.
From time to time you will come across a similar problem, which can be solved if you want to spend too much money on it at least once. It’s when you’re ready for same-day delivery, or a long taxi ride, or a $ 100 hairdresser, or $ 40 room service. Or you find some kind of behind-the-scenes solution that makes you disgusted with things that money can buy. But it won’t hurt anyone, so do it yourself.
You ask yourself, “What would a rich man do?” because you are a poor person and you do it only because you understand the unusually high value of this one-time service. You ask about it in a way that doesn’t make it a habit. (In the end, you’ll be happier if you get used to the cheap way .)
Solve the problem, move on, prepare better next time. Or you will find that one area of your life is simply worth more money than others. Under capitalism, there is no ethical consumption , but since we have it, let’s use it.
