When traveling, you usually want to stay somewhere downtown, with easy access to several local destinations: convention center, several restaurants, fun neighborhood. You can’t just look at the map. Travel time depends not only on distance; they rely on the layout of streets, highways and public transport. You can check every travel time on Google Maps, but sometimes you just want to see one big map of all the places you can go to in an hour. Try TravelTime Maps for that .
Name a place and TravelTime Maps will show you all the places you can reach in 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. He will also show you nearby hotels, cinemas or cafes. TravelTime Maps is a demo of the TravelTime platform that sells API access to job and real estate websites. The demo is not good at recognizing the names of some places, but if you have problems, you can simply drag the pin to any place on the map.
Unlike Google Maps, TravelTime has no traffic data for the US, so travel times are optimistic. But for public transport, it uses the same data as Google Maps. (You can specify what day and time you will travel.) This tool is more useful for general planning; check specific rides using Google Maps and local transportation services. It’s also a great way to see what’s really “close to home” – or to find a distant place where no one can hear you scream.
