Turn Any Place Into an Interactive Google Earth Wallpaper With This Android App

Tired of boring old smartphone wallpapers ? This new Android app can take your current location (or any other place on earth) and turn it into a background image on your phone. It’s now available on Google Play for $ 1.99 .

Skyline , created by independent developer Justin Fincher, uses satellite and aerial imagery to create interactive images of any location. This means that when you slide your finger on the phone to navigate between pages, the image shifts slightly. It also slides when you rotate the device to create a sense of depth.

Using Skyline is easy. The app can determine your exact location using GPS, or you can find a specific location. It then lets you zoom in or out to find the perfect frame before you confirm your new wallpaper. In the Skyline settings, you can enable these depth effects. If you are using Android 8.1 or later, the menu on your phone will also change color according to the locality you selected.

If that’s still not enough to convince you it’s worth spending two dollars on the app, the developer says it’s also working on a new feature that automatically changes the wallpaper to match your current location, as well as some other new features. But even without any of these add-ons, Skyline is a pretty cool way to spruce up your Android home screen.
