Hopper Now Tells You When Is the Best Time to Buy the Flights You Really Need

Finding the cheapest flight to your destination is easy enough – there is no shortage of tools . The problem is that there is usually a reason the flight is cheap: red eyes, a terrible airline, or a long stopover. With the latest Hopper update, you’ll know when to get the exact flight you want at the best price.

Hopper’s new watch filters allow you to exclude stops, long connections and selected fares from your flight search results. From there, you can use the app to track your flight and they will let you know when that particular flight is likely to be the cheapest.

In a press release, the company put it this way:

Hopper predicts and warns passengers when to buy the cheapest flight. But for many travelers, convenience or comfort may be more important than getting the cheapest flight … Once you’ve set your watch filters, Hopper will provide a price prediction based on your specific trip and preferences. If Hopper recommends waiting for a purchase, simply click the Watch This Ride button and Hopper will track prices 24/7. We’ll let you know when your ideal flight is profitable.

Along with their release, they offer a couple of additional tips based on their data. For example, if you don’t mind flying with stops, they still suggest filtering out long connections because “it rarely adds a significant amount to the ticket price.” Plus, these baseline individual rates typically save only about 16%, Hopper said. Keep in mind that paying for carry-on luggage or drinks will offset your already meager savings. The update has been available for Android since yesterday, and according to Hopper, it will be released for iOS “shortly thereafter.” Read thefull press release here and stay tuned at the links below.
