Top 10 Secret IOS 10 Features

iOS 10 is packed with new features , but the best ones are often hidden under the hood . Here are some of our favorite little-known new features that Apple doesn’t advertise and would otherwise have to dig to find.

10. Voicemail transcription

Just like Google Voice and roughly the same accuracy, iOS 10 can now transcribe your voicemail for you. When someone leaves you a voicemail, it will take iOS a few minutes to try to decrypt it. When it’s done, just tap on the voicemail to expand it and you’ll find your transcript.

9. Close all Safari tabs at the same time with a long press.

If Safari has a lot of tabs open, Apple has finally added an official way to close them all at once. On the new tab page, press and hold the Done button to open a menu where you can close all tabs.

8. Swipe between old and new on the stopwatch dial.

If you’ve been bored with the style of the stopwatch for the past six or so years, you’ll be happy to know that there is now a stopwatch dial. Open the stopwatch in the Clock app, then swipe left to navigate to a new face.

7. Siri can tell who is calling when you are wearing headphones or connected to Bluetooth.

If you are driving or walking and they call you, you usually have to stop and look at your phone to find out who is calling. However, there is a new option (under Settings> Phone> Announce Calls ) for Siri to announce the caller’s name when he calls you. You can set some parameters here as well: you can set your phone to only report callers when you have headphones, when you are connected to your car’s Bluetooth or you have headphones, or all the time.

6. Use your camera like a magnifying glass.

Ever wanted to use your iPhone’s camera as a magnifying glass? Go to Settings> General> Accessibility> Magnifier and set the switch to On. Now, when you press the Home button three times, the camera will automatically open with a small magnification, which can then be adjusted according to what you read.

5. Remove all notifications at once using 3D Touch

If you have a lot of notifications on the lock screen, you can finally delete them all with a couple of taps – provided that you are using an iPhone 6s or newer. Just click on the “X” icon and select “Clear all notifications.”

4. Open parallel tabs in Safari.

Safari now supports side-by-side tabs, which means you can open two websites at the same time. You can invoke the split view in one of three ways:

  1. Open Safari, then press and hold the tab button in the upper right corner. When the pop-up window appears, choose “Open Split View”.
  2. Drag the tab to the left or right of the screen.
  3. Press and hold the link, then select Open in Split Mode.

Note, however, that this only works on iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, and iPad Mini 4.

3. Give preference to specific downloads using 3D Touch.

Downloading multiple updates at once and suddenly realize that you really need to use one of these apps? You don’t have to wait or cancel it – just click on the icon, then select Download Priority to put it at the top of the update queue.

2. Send low quality images in messages.

If you are monitoring your mobile phone bandwidth or just don’t want to waste space on your friend’s phone, you can now configure it so that Messages only send low-resolution images. This is great if you are the type of person who constantly sends dumb pictures to friends.

1. Apple Maps automatically remembers where you parked

If your phone is connected to your car’s Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay, Apple Maps can remember where you parked your car. When you leave your car, Apple Maps will send you a notification indicating your vehicle’s location. This won’t work if you don’t have a GPS signal, so keep in mind that this is useless in garages where you don’t have a signal, so be careful underground valet parking. You can turn this option on or off in Settings> Maps.
