T-Mobile’s New Unlimited Plan Has Some Important Caveats

T-Mobile today announced a new unlimited data plan that includes unlimited data, text messages, and calls for $ 70 a month for the first line, $ 50 for an additional line in the family plan, and $ 20 for lines thereafter. Unfortunately, the term “unlimited” is being misused.

The new plan called T-Mobile ONE contains two caveats. First, the video is limited to standard definition and will be streamed at a maximum resolution of 480p. If you want HD video, you need to shell out an extra $ 25 per month. This is very similar to the misunderstood service Binge On T-Mobile, which downgrades video quality in favor of offering “unlimited” access to a range of video services.

The new plan also slows down your internet speed when you connect to the network. While you can still connect to your phone, it is limited to 2G speed, which is useless for almost everything. For LTE speed, you need to pay an extra $ 15 per month for 5G data. Also, like their previous unlimited plans, if you rank in the top 3% of data users, which usually means you are using around 26GB per month, T-Mobile will cap your speed. T-Mobile ONE will be available on September 6th. Simple Choice plans are still available at the moment.
