Use This Blending Mode in Photoshop for Perfect Alignment of Images

If you are working with an image in Photoshop that is sliced into many parts, sometimes you need to carefully align the different layers just by eye. However, set one layer to Blending Mode “Difference” and it will be much easier. Thisvideo by Scott Kelby shows how it’s done.

Usually when you are trying to align overlapping layers, you can lower the opacity so you can see through the top layer to align them. Even so, you might end up with a few pixels. As Scott demonstrates, setting the blend mode of the top layer to Difference makes it much more obvious when the image is perfectly aligned. Watch the video and you will immediately see why.

This is a fix for a very specific image editing situation that I run into a lot, and it’s so simple and obvious that I can’t believe I haven’t done it before.
