Rest of the Day: Apple Updates IOS 9 and El Capitan With Bug Fixes
Today Apple is passionate about fixing bugs. They’ve released updates for every OS they make – even watchOS for you loyalists. But this is not really a cause for delight, unless you like clean code.
- iOS 9.3.3 is now available alongside OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 , tvOS 9.2.2, and even watchOS 2.2.2. The updates don’t really bring any new features, they just fix various bugs across all platforms. However, new features will arrive in the fall when iOS 10 and macOS are slated for release. [9to5Mac]
- In other news, Imgur has redesigned its image downloader with a new streamlined workflow available to all users today. It only takes two steps to upload an image, which makes sharing memes as easy as possible. Imgur describes the update as the biggest change to the site since 2012. [Imgur]
- Plex is now available as a native Windows 10 app. But you could say I’ve been using Plex on Windows for many years. Yes, but this version of Plex was built on Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform, which means the same app will work on all Windows 10 devices and support Cortana. [Plex]
- Opera is selling its browser business to a group of Chinese companies for $ 600 million. The takeover came after a previous $ 1.2 billion deal for the entire Opera was thwarted by failing to obtain timely regulatory approvals. Instead, Opera will retain its other advertising and gaming activities. [Reuters via Android Police ]
- The Xbox One S will be available on August 2 for $ 399 with a 2TB drive. Cheaper versions with smaller discs will be available at a later date. [Kotaku]
