Rest of the Day: Scribd Offers Unlimited Audiobooks Over the Summer
From now until the end of September, Scribd offers subscribers unlimited access to over 5,000 audiobooks. It looks like a good way to pass the time before the summer heat keeps us from relaxing.
- A Scribd subscription costs $ 8.99 and usually includes three books and one audiobook per month , so an unlimited book buffet until September 30th is a nice bonus. There is also a free two-week trial; this is a good promotion if you have a lot of free time and a lot of attention this summer. [Scribd]
- In other news, Netflix has a new movie playlist creation tool called Flixtape. A funny idea with an unfinished execution; you can only add six titles, and you cannot include individual episodes from a show. It would be fun to share a mixtape of your favorite episodes! But it’s more like searching the sidewalk for a cardboard box of discarded VHS tapes. [TechCrunch]
- BitTorrent Now is available right now on iOS and Apple TV. Their new video platform is rapidly filling up with content as publishers like The Onion log in , and they are set to launch their very own BitTorrent News next week. [9to5Mac]
- CBS News has a new Apple TV app that includes live video from the CBSN news channel and Siri support. You don’t even need a cable subscription to watch their news live as they are ad-supported. [CBS]
- Vevo has updated its mobile apps with a few more features and functionality. Users can now create shared profiles and hire industry insiders to create carefully curated music and video playlists you might like. [The Verge]
Update: Scribd’s free trial is 14 days, not 30 days as originally posted.
