Give the Guests of the House a Tray so They Don’t Lose Their Belongings
If friends or family are crashed on your couch, give them a tray to store their little things like keys, wallet, or phone. They are less likely to lose their belongings in your living room – or any other room – with a simple tray as a catch for all the loose items.
Giving them a special space (even a small one) also makes your guests feel more welcome, especially if you don’t have an entire room to accommodate them. It is not necessary to use a tray, something large enough to put 3-6 small items, such as a small bowl or plate, if they are good enough not to feel like a chore. Most visitors will probably want to use it for their phone, keys, wallet, phone charger, sunglasses, or other accessories.
They also make it easy to move your guests’ belongings when you need to use a table in the living room without scattering their belongings all over the place or forcing them to climb and grab everything. Best of all, it gives them one place to check out when they are about to leave, so they leave nothing behind after their stay.
