Use Coffee Filters to Make an Impromptu Infusion Bag

Gauze and muslin bags are the preferred material for wrapping garni bouquets (also called fragrant bundles of delicious herbs and other flavors), but a simple coffee filter can be used with the same results.

Not only am I much more likely to have coffee filters on hand than cheesecloth, but coffee filters are much cheaper (and can be composted !). To make a small bag for soup, tea, or tincture, place the ingredients in the center of the filter, tie it with string, and submerge it in water until the liquid has the proper flavor. Remove, throw in compost and repeat as needed.
