Free up Tons of Space on Your IPhone by Trying to Download a Movie
Storage space on iPhone and iPad fills up too quickly. Here’s a weird but effective way to free up several gigabytes of disk space in a matter of minutes.
The video above from iTwe4kz shows a trick in action: Try renting a large movie (like The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers ) from iTunes. You will be told that you do not have enough storage space. Click the “Settings” button in that message, and oddly enough, there will be more free space on your device. Rinse and repeat.
When I tried this, I had 912 MB of free space on my iPad, but after the first try, I now have 2.5 GB of free space.
We’re not sure why this works, but an eavesdropping Redditor who shared this tip on an iPhone subreddit last month suggests that it is probably wiping useless data from various apps in order to try to download a movie.
Make sure you have less space on your iPhone or iPad than the total movie size, otherwise you will be charged.
