Shelfi Lets You Download E-Books and Audiobooks by Taking Snapshots of Your Physical Copies

Shelfie, formerly known as BitLit , already allows you to take photos of the physical books you own and receive corresponding copies of e-books. They now add audiobooks so you can listen to books on your bookshelf too.

The last time we talked about Shelfie (ugh, that’s the name), we mentioned how they let you download cheap and sometimes free e-books as long as you can prove you have a physical copy of them – and of course , not only in the library to take pictures. Now, if you have a suitable book for which there is an audio version, you will be prompted to borrow it if you prefer to listen rather than read. Thanks to a new partnership with Findaway, over 30,000 audiobooks are available in the app, with over 250,000 already available.

App usage hasn’t changed: take a photo of your bookshelf to see which books are suitable for digital copies. Then, for each book you want digitally, you can take a picture of the copyright page with the bookplate or your handwritten name. You will have to repurchase some e-books and audiobooks, which mostly helps the service make money, but there are plenty of free books available as well. Click on the link below to find out more.
