Transform a Rain Barrel Into a Simple Tool Storage Warehouse

Do you have a lot of big tools? For the price of a rain barrel, you can make a garden tool holder that will hold all of your long-handled tools. This will keep them away from the walls and floor and make them easy to reach when it’s time to work in the yard.

You can find plastic rain barrels on Craigslist for about $ 30 or at major home malls for $ 70 . To make this tool holder, you will need a 2 ” hole saw, a drill, and roughly 50 lbs. stone or gravel to make the barrel heavier (which will be very heavy when you put all the tools in it).

Note, however, that this video shows 16 holes being drilled, which is too many. The ends of the instruments will become tangled and the center instruments will be difficult to remove. 8-10 holes would have been better, not to mention less gravel needed to hold the trunk in place.

This simple organizer can also be used to store sporting goods such as hockey and lacrosse sticks or even fishing rods.
