How to Use Ambient Mode Google Assistant on Android
Our smartphones can display tons of information and provide useful shortcuts even when locked, and Google Assistant’s Ambient Mode is worth a try. It allows you to use some of the best features of your phone without unlocking it, which saves you valuable time and eliminates the hassle of fiddling with your finger to authenticate with your device.
Ambient Mode is essentially an improved lock screen that appears when your phone is charging. It displays current weather conditions, upcoming alarms and calendar events. You can also control music playback, use Google Assistant, or control other smart devices synced to your phone without having to unlock the device. Customize a kind of screensaver by running a slideshow of images saved in Google Photos, or view anytime or receive push notifications.
Ambient Mode is already available on several other devices from Lenovo, Nokia, Sony, Transsion and Xiaomi running Android Oreo or higher. OnePlus also recently announced that the feature will be rolling out to OnePlus devices, including the OnePlus 3 and all new models, so now is the right time to get familiar with the process of setting up Ambient Mode. (It’s simple.)
