Use This Free AAA Card to Get Updated Travel Restrictions in Every State
Before the advent of GPS and smartphones, the American Automobile Association (AAA) ‘s TripTik had a way to plan and navigate a trip. In fact, it has been a staple of travel for over a century. There are updated digital versions of TripTiks available through their app , but these resources are for their members only. Fortunately, AAA makes some of its TripTik features free to use on its website, including a map that provides updated information on current travel restrictions related to COVID-19. Here’s how to find and use it.
Free AAA Cards for Non-Members
Even if you’re not an AAA member, you can still access some of the really useful TripTik features on the AAA website. This includes getting a scaled down version of the maps in your app, such as this classic TripTik map, which allows motorists to plan their route according to traffic, construction, and stops along the way (e.g. food, gas stations, attractions, etc.) ).
And while you can use Google Maps or another travel app, AAA offers a version that provides constantly updated information on specific travel restrictions caused by COVID-19. This map is also available on their website for free.
Want to know which states or provinces in Canada have roadblocks? This map will show you. It also warns you about border closures, national land closures, camouflage rules, and both state and city restrictions. You can also click the box to see the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in a specific area.
To be more precise, the map highlights all districts with their own travel restrictions in purple. When you hover your mouse over a district, a pop-up window appears with the name of the district and the exact restrictions it contains, with links to more information. If you do hit the road this summer, take all precautions to avoid contributing to the spread of the new coronavirus.
