Transform Your TV Into a Digital Art Gallery With This Free App
Wall-mounted TVs are great for watching movies, but they just take up a lot of space when you’re not using them. Instead of letting that big blank screen just hang, consider turning it into a digital art gallery with the free Enplug app.
Once your TV is connected to the Enplug server, it will display a rotating collection of images from the app’s large cloud library, but you’ll need an app-capable device to use it. Enplug says it works with Amazon Fire TV, Nvidia Shield and Apple TV devices, as well as select 2019 and 2020 smart TVs (although we couldn’t find a list of specific models). Mac users can also use Enplug on supported TVs via AirPlay. Note that you will need a computer or laptop to complete the initial setup and editing of the image gallery.
Although the list of supported devices is small, Enplug is fairly easy to set up. And since all your art is stored in the cloud, you don’t have to take up tons of space on your device with ultra-high definition images.
How to set up an Enplug gallery on your TV
The entire setup phase shouldn’t take you more than a few minutes. Unfortunately my TV is too old to use Enplug and I have no other supported set-top boxes. I tried adding my laptop, desktop, iPad Pro and Android phone as display devices, but none of them worked.
However, I was able to start an account and create a cloud gallery and can confirm that these steps are easy enough to follow. The library of art available is decently varied, but not huge. However, the images are all high quality: paintings, photographs and digital art that can definitely add a little flavor and color to your living room.
- First, register for a free Enplug account , then log into the Enplug website on a desktop browser.
- Click on “Display Group” in the upper left corner of the Enplug dashboard.
- Select “Add”.
- Change the name, time zone, and other information for the new display group.
- Be sure to choose whether your device will be displayed in landscape or portrait orientation.
- Click Next.
- On the next screen, add a display name for the device you want to connect to.
- Using the web browser of your TV or set-top box, go to Enplug.com/go
- Enter the confirmation phrase on the TV into the “Setup Phrase” section on your computer.
- Click Add Device.

- The art should now appear on your TV screen. Keep in mind that the TV and set-top box remain on while the web app opens to show the gallery.
