Our Favorite Android Games for 120Hz Phones
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra’s 120Hz display is great for high refresh rate gaming, making games more responsive and smoother to play. Watching smartphones advertise 120Hz displays is impressive, especially with many high-end TVs, monitors and game consoles struggling to achieve consistently high refresh rates like this one.
If you’re looking for Android games that can take full advantage of your phone’s high refresh rate display, Android Police has compiled a list of over 200 games available on Google Play that support 120Hz gaming. There are many genres available, from strategy, RPG and shooters to puzzle, adventure and platform games.
There are tons of good 120Hz compatible games out there – too many to list, even without unnecessary stuff – so I went ahead and pulled from the list a few games that I personally played and liked to get you started. There are many more great games beyond this small handful, however, so be sure to check out the full Android Police roster if you don’t feel my choice or you just need more games.
Oceanhorn (Action Adventure)
If you dig up Zelda, Oceanhorn is the game for you. Set in an ocean world, players jump across islands across the sea, navigate puzzle-filled dungeons, defeat monsters, and collect new items and abilities that open up new areas to explore.
Rayman Adventures (platformer)
Admittedly, Rayman Adventures is n’t quite as good as its console counterparts Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends , but it’s still a fun platformer based on two of the best games in the genre. Plus, hand-drawn animations are likely to look amazing at 120Hz.
Hitman Go , Deus Ex Go and Lara Croft Go (puzzle, strategy)
This trio of games takes the open stealth sandboxes of the core Deus Ex and Hitman games and the trap-filled dungeons of the Tomb Raider series and turns them into miniature puzzles in which players move their character around a diorama. levels not to be noticed, and completing tasks along the way. Each of the three games takes mechanics from core games like Hitman disguise, Deus Ex hacking tools, and Tomb Raider platformer, and transforms them into unique solutions to each game’s puzzle-like environment.
Minecraft (Building, Survival)
Chances are, you’ve played Minecraft before, but it’s still worth including it on this list. Whether you are building a base for survival mode adventures or just playing virtual legos in creative mode, it’s easy to spend hours on this game.
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition (RPG)
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition doesn’t have the huge open world of the console / PC version, and it uses high quality graphics for a stylized cartoon look, but it’s still a great way to experience the history of Final Fantasy XV . As someone who has played both versions, I would say that Pocket Edition’s combat is easier to master and that its small levels make it easier to track the plot, and you still get great music and voice acting from the original.

Again, this is just a small fraction of what I have personally played and can recommend, but there is still a lot to play with. I don’t really like fighting games, but noteworthy releases like Skullgirls and Mortal Kombat are available at 120Hz. The list of shooters is small so far, but Hitman: Sniper is not bad, and there are some flashy PVP tricks like Shadowgun Legends . You will also find popular games like Pokemon Go , Plague Inc. , DOTA Underlords and Auto Chess .
