Eat Fancy Meals by Rolling Goat Cheese in Groceries
Do you know that people love to eat? Cheese. Do you know that people love to eat during the holidays? Unusual cheese. The “quirkiness”, however, is mainly in the presentation. For example, a large number of herbs always give things a sophisticated look and taste; small crunchy pieces can have a similar effect. It follows that the easiest way to impress people this holiday season is to give them cheese (goat cheese, to be exact) wrapped in fancy concoctions (like herbs and crispy nuggets ).
In fact, this is a cheese ball, only simpler and of a different shape. It only takes two minutes and you probably already have a bunch of “things” that will work. The cheese logs you see above were wrapped in garlic left over from another recipe, bits of bacon that had been in my fridge for a while, and a salty, sweet spice mixture I bought in France over two years ago. The only thing I needed to buy was goat cheese.
Besides garlic, bacon bits and spice mixes, you can try dried fruit; Chopped nuts – toasted, candied, or unflavored and all kinds of fresh herbs. You can dip the garlic in one item, such as a whole bunch of fresh dill; two things like shredded dried cranberries and thyme; or three things like basil, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, and chopped peppercorns.
Not only is this appetizer easy to assemble and a pleasure to eat, it’s a great way to clean up your fridge and pantry. Any crispy onions left over from Thanksgiving? Crush them a little and roll in a log of goat cheese. Maybe add some crispy sage. Are there pecans that were not found in candied yams? Chop them and roll them over with goat cheese pieces. If you can crush, crush, or chop it, you can dip some goat cheese in it. Then eat it. And be happy.
