Create “shared Goals” to Align Your Goals With Your Company
The end of the year gives us an opportunity to look back at our work. Many companies conduct performance reviews around this time. In summary, think about setting “shared goals,” goals that advance your career and help your company’s interests for the next year.
Before you meet with your manager to finalize your 2015 goals, prepare a meeting plan with your shared goals. Your plan should define how your goals and future projects can benefit both you and your company. For example, attending one industry conference on a quarterly or yearly basis can bring you new contacts and help generate new leads, awareness, or information for your company.
Aligning your goals with those of the company is important because they will be more willing to invest in you and potentially advance you in the organization.
