Check Dress Codes Before Visiting Attractions to Avoid Denied Admission

Many popular attractions (often religious) have a strict dress code for visitors. Make sure your outfit isn’t causing you to miss popular travel sites by checking your dress code first.

Ideally, you should find out if there are any restrictions (such as shorts or bare shoulders) when you pack so you can bring the right clothes with you. Even if you don’t check the dress code until you hit the road, you should be aware of the restrictions as soon as you decide to travel somewhere. Then you can at least buy a cheap shirt or a pair of pants from a local vendor. You will especially want to know this information if you are traveling as part of a tour group, as you will get stuck outside while the rest of the group gets inside, which confuses you and leaves you aside.

If you are planning to visit a place with warm weather, bring a large scarf with you. You can use this scarf to cover your shoulders or tie it around your waist to cover your legs, and then remove it when you go outside and need cooler clothes.

Do not assume that you will be able to neglect the dress code. Every place I have personally been to is very strict about it. Additional tips on how to get the most out of popular attractions can be found in the full post at the link below.
