Eliminate Clutter by Defining the Purpose of Each Room
Defining the purpose of each room is a powerful tool to help you get rid of the clutter and get organized . You will know exactly where everything needs to go and get rid of all the “catchy” spots that turn into piles of clutter.
Start with memories of kindergarten, when your class was divided into activity zones (small area, arts and crafts station, etc.). Do the same and draw activity zones for each of your rooms. Don’t try to fit too many activities into each room – try to do three to five so as not to overwhelm the space.
Even if you have a room with multiple purposes (like a living room), you can organize what it needs by defining activity zones (talking to friends or family, watching TV, playing sports). Limit the items in each area to what you need for the activity, and remove anything that doesn’t fit . You may even find that identifying zones for certain parts of your routine (such as waking up ) helps you get through your day more smoothly.
