Flix Plus Customizes Every Corner of the New Netflix Experience
Chrome: Flix Plus , the original Lifehacker Chrome extension for Netflix, has been completely updated to customize the new Netflix layout . You can hide spoilers, show Rotten Tomato ratings, and more. Here’s what’s new.
Netflix’s big update broke most of the Flix Plus extension, but we’ve worked hard to get it back up and running. The latest version of the extension brings back many of its original features: you can hide spoilers, show ratings from Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB, move My List to the top, watch movie trailers, play random episodes, and customize video player keyboard shortcuts. … You can find a complete list of features here .
Several features have also been removed, including:
- Darker than Netflix as Netflix is now dark by default.
- Option to hide Facebook and ratings pop-ups as Netflix no longer shows them.
- Hide scrollbars as Netflix’s new interface complicates implementation.
Several other features have been scaled back:
- Clicking instead of play is now limited to the Kids section as this behavior is now part of the main site ( finally ).
- Setting the half-star is limited to the manual My List mode, as it is not easy to do in most parts of the site.
- You can no longer hide ratings, watched, and duplicates as Netflix’s new interface makes implementation more difficult.
Update : Since this writing, we’ve brought back several other features, including:
- A dim or tint shows what you’ve watched, rated, or listed multiple times, and also hides entire sections.
- Keyboard shortcuts for navigating the Netflix library. The new version also supports tab navigation, seasons and episodes, and works with billboards.
In addition, several improvements have been made to the display of search links to increase functionality:
- Added a link that allows you to open the current show in a new Netflix tab.
- New links to search engines IMDB, Wikipedia and Google from the pages of actors and directors.
Go to the Flix Plus homepage to learn more, or go straight to the Chrome Web Store to download a new extension. Enjoy!
