Make Your Own Tonic Syrup for the Best Taste in Cocktails
If you want to enhance your cocktail game, this tonic syrup is easy to prepare and can be customized by adding your own special ingredients.
The tonic goes well with gin and vodka, and VinePair’s Chad Ashman shares his method of making a killer tonic syrup that you can use in homemade cocktails. You will need one and a half cups of water, one and a half teaspoons of chopped cinchona bark, and one cup of cane sugar. Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan, then add cinchona bark and any additional ingredients you may need (such as citrus zest). Simmer for about half an hour, let cool, then use a French press to separate the liquid from the ingredients. Then add the cane sugar to the liquid in a sealed glass container and shake. When you’re ready to make your shake, add about half an ounce of syrup to some soda water for a delicious homemade tonic. You can find the complete recipe at the link below.
