Develop Together a Way to Connect Your IPad or IPhone Over Ethernet
Both iPhones and iPads have built-in Wi-Fi, which works great, but if for some reason you prefer an Ethernet connection, blogger Jacob Salmela will show you how.
You just put together a set of adapters for this to work. You will need: iOS device, Ethernet cable, Apple Lightning to USB cable , A / C adapter , USB Ethernet adapter, Lightning to USB camera adapter (or powered USB hub). Once you’ve pieced together all of this nonsense, you have to follow a very specific set of steps to get online:
- Connect the USB to Ethernet adapter to the camera adapter.
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the USB to Ethernet adapter.
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the router.
- Connect the Lightning cable to the camera adapter.
- Connect the Lightning cable to your power adapter (or powered USB hub).
- Plug the power adapter (or powered USB hub) into the wall.
- Connect the camera adapter (or powered USB hub) to your iOS device.
This is definitely a hackish solution, but it is also a problem that most of us do not need to solve. However, if you need to connect your iOS device to a wired connection, this seems to be the only way to do it. Visit Salmela’s website for full details.
