This Video Will Introduce You to the History of the Battery.
Batteries are what most of us use every day, but few of us really know much about where they come from. If you do DIY, component evolution is an important aspect of understanding how they work, and at Adafruit they took the time to teach this in a short video.
Colleen from Adafruit goes through the beginning of the battery as a collection of capacitors used to store voltage, thanks to a more modern use as a container of cells, in which stored energy is converted into electricity. He then demonstrates how to build a galvanic battery from copper, zinc and salt water so you can better understand how it works. It’s a clever mix of history and hands-on knowledge, and if you’ve ever been curious about battery history, this is a great starting point.
